An Arts & Cultural Management Center that brings together both teaching and research in BSB's well-known field of expertise.

BSB launches its center for Arts & Cultural Management for the 2017-2018 academic year

BSB is excited to announce the opening of its Center for Arts & Cultural Management (ACM) at the start of the 2017-18 academic year. The Center will showcase BSB's longstanding expertise in the field of cultural management, which began in 1991 with the launching of the first European Specialised Master in Management of Cultural and Creative Industries (MECIC). Thanks to the launch of the Center for Arts & Cultural Management, it will enhance its positioning in the sector through three main dimensions: teaching, research and cultural entrepreneurship. Some 10 teacher-researchers will be working at the Center.

Programmes: Culture Specialisation redesigned with the added advantage of a double-degree

  • The Culture Specialisation will begin in the first year of the Master in Management (Master Grande Ecole - MGE), during which students will acquire general knowledge in the field of culture, of its networks and legal aspects. This fundamental first year will be followed by an in-depth look into cultural entrepreneurship in the second year, and together will prepare students to get to the heart of the matter in the third year, which will be dedicated to building their professional network. 3 options are on offer in the third year, 2 of which award a double-degree:
  • The Specialised Master in Management of Cultural and Creative Industries (MS MECIC), taught in French, prepares students for a European career and focuses on cultural entrepreneurship;
  • The MSc ACM, taught in English, prepares students for a European and international career with a focus on communication, events management and digital industries;

The AC (Arts and Culture) concentration, which corresponds to the first semester of the MSc ACM.

This option offers added value to our graduates' profiles upon entering the labour market, as it completes their extended and diversified three-year degree in the cultural sector. Former students of this double-degree include a current Project Manager Assistant for the Hermès Foundation, a Deputy Director of the Heritage Foundation, as well as an e-Marketing and Digital Communications Project Manager at Odéon, Théâtre de l’Europe.

Cultural entrepreneurship at the heart of research and development activities

The new Center aims to become a reference in academic research on cultural entrepreneurship and territorial development, both quickly expanding subjects in the field of cultural management.

As such, conferences and various events are scheduled, as well as a publication of a book dedicated to this field. 10 teacher-researchers will make up the team at the Center for Arts & Cultural Management.

The Center will also facilitate professional partnerships in order to guarantee an active pedagogical framework that adheres to the cultural and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Dijon which already includes: France Active, the Opéra de Dijon, the Club des Mécènes de Bourgogne, the Coursive Boutaric; and for Paris: the Ministry of Culture, Créatis, Le Lab 104, Paris&Co Le Cargo and Le Remix. The same holds true for our academic partners of reference: the University of Ferrara (Italy), Chapman Orange University (Los Angeles), ISBA (Superior Institute of Fine Arts, Besançon), the l’École Supérieure de Musique de Dijon, etc.
