With the LeaderSkills Institute, BSB makes leadership a certifiable competency

A first in France: a unique institute to democratize the learning of leadership skills, accessible to all from the start of higher education
BSB announces the launch of the LeaderSkills Institute (LSI), a major initiative that is profoundly transforming leadership skills education. Designed as a true transversal institute, the LSI will be integrated into all courses, from Bac+1 to Bac+5, with an innovative, progressive and certifying pedagogy. Its mission: to make leaderskills accessible to everyone, and not considering them as a privilege reserved for an elite.
A real transformation in leadership learning
While companies now expect much more than technical skills, BSB is betting on leadership rooted in reality, in the service of collective performance as well as personal development. The LSI is based on a strong conviction: Leadership can be learned, like any other discipline, provided that a structured, well-equipped method based on experimentation is adopted.
”Why isn't leadership treated with the same rigor as engineering or marketing?”, ask Laurent Vernerey, President of the BSB Foundation, BSB Alumni'83 and former CEO of Schneider Electric North America, who initiated the project. ”I wanted to transmit a method that would allow students to build their own leadership equation.”
A unique model based on 9 key competencies... and a certification as a result

The LeaderSkills Institute offers a course unpublished certificate in France, structured around 9 fundamental skills organized into 3 pillars:
· Leading Yourself : getting to know yourself, managing your energy, developing your emotional intelligence
· Leading Others : build trust, work collaboratively, communicate with impact
· Leading Organizations : understand collective dynamics, manage change, take a strategic perspective
The great innovation of the LSI lies in the certification issued at the end of the course, which concretely attests to the acquisition of these 9 skills. It allows students to value leadership rooted in practice, visible and recognized, in the manner of technical certifications. One personalized digital space will reinforce this tangible proof of know-how.
”It's a novel approach: we're not just talking about leadership, we're measuring its effects. Our students come out with skills, not just ideas and concepts”, underlines Laurent Vernerey.
Stéphan Bourcieu, Dean of BSB, adds: ”The world is changing fast. Technical knowledge is evolving, but human skills such as stress management, understanding others, and the ability to cooperate will always remain essential. The LSI ideally meets this requirement.”
An initiative based on research, open to the professional world

The LSI is based on three axes: research (publications, conferences, doctoral work), curriculum (courses, bootcamps, conferences, and workshops in all programs), and openness to the professional world (think tank, training, benchmarks).
A digital platform designed as a real teaching tool will complement the course modules. It will allow the LSI community — students, teachers, professionals — to share resources, to practice and thus to make continuous progress while managing the evolution of their skills.
”It is a deeply democratic approach”, welcomes Laurent Vernerey. ”Leadership shouldn't be restricted to a handful of profiles. It concerns each of us, in our professional life of course, but is also completely relevant in our personal life.”
With this new institute, BSB affirms its ambition: train a new generation of leaders who are enlightened, committed, and fully aware of their impact.
